Coup D'Etat
Images in motion, contrasting here
and elsewhere
Miles Stewart Wambaugh, a Franco-American artist, was born in Paris in 1965 of a Parisian mother and a Bostonian father.
Miles was brought up in an artistic environment thanks to his father a musician and a writer and his mother for whom art was all encompassing. Early on, he took drawing lessons at the Arts Décoratifs of the Louvre Museum and later entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts appliqués et Métiers d’Art in Paris.
His forms of expression are: painting, high relief, drawing, design, volume sculpture.
Ornithology and hunting are among his favorite pastimes in the Baie de Somme, where he lives. The surrounding wilderness has inspired him to create and express himself freely. His atelier is his den. Hunting, tradition, dogs, the smell of trails, of the seaside, flora and fauna, bodies of water… all contribute to the creation of stories with multiple resonances. Miles Wambaugh has collaborated with a number of luxury perfume Houses (Saint Laurent, Dior, Hermès…). Today he unveils his universe of colors and fragrances.
Meeting Pierre Dinand, a renowned designer, as well as perfumers Jean-Louis Sieuzac and Dominique Ropion has been decisive as they have encouraged him to pursue a novel artistic adventure where paintings and perfume interact and mingle.

The Maison de parfums Miles Wambaugh presents its first collection made of five perfumes, paintings and bottles in symbiosis to bring out sensuality. In its heart which beats frantically, the perfume becomes Hot with an Indian jasmine, sunny, warm, animalic, rich, even opulent, which lets itself be caught, as if trapped within the sensuous twines of vanilla. The woody, dry and earthy vetiver roots interlace it… yielding a smoky trail of great sensuality.
Sensuality of images, shivering of emotions.
MOOD FOR OUD. Here a deliberate assumed choice. Miles Wambaugh creates once more an olfactory and pictural illusion and applies his art to a substance with a strong personality that is often misrepresented: The wood of the oud. However, when Miles Wambaugh thinks of oud, he thinks about its substance, forms and colors. A wood which from the start beguiles whoever smells it, it only comes through under different opposing facets: animal, leathery, floral, fruity…
To incarnate it, woody notes of gaïac, earthy dry notes of patchouli, and notes of amber which make up this powerful, multi-facetted sensation… of oud. To have it radiate and be agreeable, this completely imaginary oud is tinged with fresh and aromatic notes conveyed by cardamom and bergamot, lightly spiced with coriander.
Mystery of images, intrigue of the emotions.
SURE SHOT is drawn like a light and romantic watercolor. A breeze of citrus, notes of bergamot and orange, enhanced by an elegant and subtle cardamom, the caress of mysterious silhouettes, almost ghostly. The sea mist, intense and watery, sets the wild grass in motion with its iodized salt and whips the earth.
The trampled wet soil smells of smoky vetiver, the salient woody notes of peppery and ambered cashmeran. A rare instant of calm and serenity after the wind.
Mist of images, softness of emotions
The fire expands in leathery nuances leaving its extreme trail of specific cedar, patchouli and amber notes. An impression of gun powder emerges, underlined by woody notes of incense and leather. A signature dangerously affirmed.
Violence of images, intensity of emotion.
COUP D’ETAT, the name is as sharp as what it conveys. Brute force, intensity, strength, identity.
In order to interpret this « coup d’Etat » one cannot help but think of rebellion and inverted order, this is achieved through the choice of contrasting fragrances evoking both strength and softness.
The outset is potent and vibrant, revealed by notes of lavendin topped with cardamom, a fresh spice that lends itself to blending.
For strength and thematic character a mellow iris, distinct, particular with a rose-like imperious geranium. The trail is present, smooth, round, slightly feral with spicy notes of vanilla, patchouli and the woody and leathery undertones of cypriol.
This perfume morefully reveals motion and realism when shot, like a bullet, from its weapon-like flask.
Outburst of images, range of emotion.
